Parmarth’s Intervention on Drought and Livelihood Agenda at Bundelkhand Regional Level

The present vulnerability of Bundelkhand region needs collective intervention by organising and mobilising community groups and larger civil society. In this direction, Parmarth with the support of Apada Nivarak Manch and other civil society organisations of Bundelkhand region is actively working on the drought and livelihood issues with following objectives:

  • To build and strengthen the community forum with the process of inclusion and gender mainstreaming on drought and livelihood agenda
  • To increase livelihood choices in agriculture and non-farm activities through greater access to natural resources
  • To mobilise common poor and vulnerable people for getting work under NREGA and developing access of other social security entitlements
  • To ensure effective and transparent mechanism in collaboration with government functionaries for access and reach over drought relief packages
  • To improve access, quality and enrolment of children with focus on dalits and girl child

Parmarth is working for informing public policy and practices at regional, state and national level by inviting the experts groups to take up the issues and contribute in addressing the situation in favour of poor and vulnerable community groups. In this direction, the organisation will also work for developing access by influencing state systems, delivery mechanism, addressing the grievances and regular monitoring, budget tracking of the status of entitlements achieved/not achieved and following up constantly.

The organisation is also taking up the grass roots mobilisation initiatives for pressure building, addressing the immediate emergency/vulnerable needs, developing model for fighting drought situation with the support of community leaders and common villagers.  And for this, the organisations’ focus will be more on working for good governance by developing competencies of the community groups through awareness, capacity building and orientation, supportive role and following up the concern person / authorities.
