Socio-economic and Political Background of the Social Group
During the course of implementation and social analysis exercise, it came out that the region is facing multiple range of social deprivation started from feudal system to caste discrimination, gender discrimination, untouchability and illiteracy. Other than social deprivation, the community groups are also facing following problems:
- Food and livelihood insecurity due to regular drought and displacement of artisans from their traditional livelihood
- Non-availability of wage work in lean period and distress situation like drought
- Increasing cost of agriculture for small and marginal farmer and failure of agriculture
- Low productivity due to non availability of irrigation facilities and absence of water and soil conservation
- Increasing indeptness for agriculture, livelihood need, health need, migration purpose, etc
- Male folk migration left behind women and elderly struggling for their livelihood
- Low literacy level among women and girls
- Lack of water and sanitation resources - low priority agenda for panchayat, block and district administration
- Feudalism and patriarchcal characteristics
- Abduction of poor and marginalised community groups
- Decreasing sex ratio
- High incidences of violence against women
- Increasing incidences of HIV/AIDS
- Weak local self governance
- Poor functioning of schools/ICDS/Gram Sabha
- Government apathy in delivery of services, schemes and programmes
